Summary:

A 26-question test administered during orientation and in UTS is used to determine placement in mathematics courses. Students who score between 12 and 15 will exempt MATH 1101 (Mathematical Modeling) and may enroll in MATH 1113 (Pre-calculus). Students who score 16 or higher will exempt MATH 1113 and may begin their University studies with MATH 2200 (Differential Calculus). No credit is given for exempted courses, but exemption of MATH 1113 or MATH 1101 may satisfy Core and/or Degree requirements.

Auxiliary Test
Credit for MATH 1113 may be earned by passing an auxiliary examination administered by the Mathematics Department. Since this exam must be taken before a student has been enrolled in a college-level mathematics course for over three weeks, interested students should be encouraged to go to the Mathematics Department during the first week of classes each semester.
