Requirements:

By a policy statement issued in 1972, the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia instituted the requirement that each institution of the University System of Georgia ensure that students obtaining a degree possess certain minimum skills of reading and writing. These skills are referred to as the Regents' Writing and Reading Skills.

Students enrolled in undergraduate degree programs leading to the baccalaureate degree must meet Regents' Reading Skills and Regents' Writing Skills requirements for graduation. For additional information, please visit the Regent’s Overview.

Test availability:

The Regents' Test is administered system-wide one testing period only each semester (Fall, Spring and Summer).

Fall Registration Period is June 15, 2008 to October 17, 2008.

Fall 2008 test dates are as follows:

  • Combined Session: October 22, 23, 27-29
  • Essay Only Session: October 22-24, 27-30 and November 3
  • Reading Only Session: October 22-24, 27-30 and November 3

You must register through OASIS and print your ticket before the registration deadline!

Registration:

This test is given by appointment only.

Students can register each semester for the Regents' Test through the OASIS registration system.
Early registration is recommended.

Fall Registration Deadline: October 17, 2008.

Any student assigned to skills classes MUST have their Regents' ticket embossed by the RGTE and/or RGTR instructor(s) in order to test.

Test Length:

Essay Portion - 1 hour
Reading Portion - 1 hour

Results:

Scores will be available on OASIS 5 – 6 weeks after the test.

The Short Practice Reading Test gives you a chance to practice and questions can be answered and scored online. Allow yourself 30 minutes to complete this practice test.

The Practice Reading Test with Instructional Feedback lets you know whether the responses you select are correct or not as soon as you select them. Allow yourself 60 minutes to complete this practice test.

The Approved Essay Topics is a complete list from which topics used on the Essay Test are selected. The Essay Test requires students to choose among four topics drawn from this list.
