University Testing Services offers scoring and evaluation services for the Faculty and Staff of the University of Georgia.
In an effort to support the initiative to replace social security numbers as identifiers University Testing Services suggests using the University ID number beginning with 81. It is imperative that there are no duplications of numbers within a class. This number should be entered in the "identification" field of the test answer form, left justified, beginning in column "A." If the ID number is not entered correctly the result will be incomplete reports.
We greatly appreciate your cooperation in implementing this new identification system for test scoring purposes.
Sale of answer sheets to departments ($0.12 each sold in packs of 500 - $80.00)
Scoring fee for test sets - UTS answer sheets ($10.00 each) - This charge applies to each test set scored when the answer sheets used are purchased from UTS. For example, the charge for scoring a test with 300 answer sheets in one test set is $10.00. The charge for scoring the same test with 300 answer sheets, but four test sets for four different versions is $40.00 for scoring the entire exam.
Organizing or modifying ($75.00 per hour) - This charge applies to exams that are summited for scoring without being properly organized or without complete ID's. Instructors may organize the exam before submitting it for scoring or have UTS organize it as a billed service. Additional information about the required organization and ID's is available on the UTS website.
Standard Analysis Reports ($1.00 for each report) - For each test set scored, UTS will email one Excel report with student names, UGA ID's, raw score, and responses to questions. Additional reports can be emailed for an additional fee. Examples:
1. Individual Test Results report that includes student names, raw score, high score in class, low score in class, and median score. This report may be sorted by name or ID number.
2. Individual Item Response report that includes student name, raw score, and responses to each question on the exam.
3. Item Analysis report that allows users to analyze each question of a test and evaluate test difficulty.
4. Relative Frequency Distribution using a bar graph to allow users to quickly determine the percentage of students achieving particular raw scores for a test.
5. Test Score Distribution report that allows users to compare raw scores to various types of standard scores and distributions.
Two types of Scantrons are used in our system
1. Form 229627, data can be sorted by individual ID. There are spaces for 60 questions with five responses to each question. You can order these forms from Scantron.
2. Form 229633, data can be sorted by individual name and ID. There are spaces for 200 questions with five responses to each question.
To order scantron sheets, complete this order form and email it to our office. The forms come in boxes of 500 and cases of 2500. Departmental account number must be provided when order is placed. Forms are generally shipped Campus Mail. Pick up can be arranged, we do not deliver.
Step 1: Administer the Test
- Use No. 2 pencil only.
- Fill in the Identification # the Student ID beginning with 810 starting in column A. The last column can be left blank.
- Make dark marks that completely fill the ovals.
Please note that a unique Identification Number is required for all students. If this field is left blank, the scanner will not grade the test.
The Answer Key is the form that identifies all of the correct answers for the questions on the test. The form is the same form used by students for their answer sheets. The scanner differentiates between the Answer Key and other answer sheets using two fields on the sheet:
Enter either the instructor's last name or the word "Key" in this field.
Enter 01 in the first two columns (A and B). Then, enter the number of questions in the last three columns (H, I, and J). The number of questions must be three digits. For example, a 35-question test becomes 035. This field MUST be completed in order for the test to be graded.
After completing these two sections, fill in the correct answers to the test questions. A correct answer can be indicated in the following ways:
- One Response Marked
This mark is the only correct answer. Any answer other than the one marked is considered incorrect, including no response.
- All Responses Marked
Any response marked for this question is acceptable and considered correct. No response marked is considered incorrect.
- No Response Marked
The question is ignored. The answer is not marked correct or incorrect, and is not used in calculating the student's score. Be sure not to include the question in the question count used in the Identification Number field.
In order for the scanner to correctly scan and score the test forms, the tests must be placed with the answer key on top of the student answer sheets. All sheets must be face up with all of the black tic ID marks facing the same direction. Bind the test together, or place it in a campus mailer, and bring the test to University Testing Services, Clark Howell Hall.
Below is a brief description of the types of reports that we offer. If you need more information on these reports please email and request an information packet on test reports.
The tests will be returned to the instructor along with six printed reports:
1. Individual Test Results - lists raw scores, percentages, and percentile for each individual taking the test.
2. Individual Item Response Report - lists the answer key at the top of the page followed by the responses the student made to every test question. One sheet per student will be generated (to be handed back to the student) unless the test is a final exam.
3. Item Analysis Report - provides an analysis of how the test population answered each test question. It displays the responses to each test question, the number of responses in the upper and lower quarters and total population, and the total percentages of responses for each answer. The Discrimination Index and Difficulty Factor for each response are listed as well as the Kuder Richardson 20 and Kuder Richardson 21 values for the entire test.
4. Relative Frequency Distribution Report - provides a graphic representation of the percentage of the total test population that achieved each score. The report lists each test score, how many respondents achieved that score (frequency), the local percentile for each score, and a graph showing a set of asterisks each representing 2% of the test group.
5. Absolute Frequency Distribution Report - provides a graphic representation of the number of respondents that achieved each score. The report lists each test score, how many respondents achieved that score (frequency), the local percentile for each score, and a graph showing a set of asterisks each representing one respondent.
6. Test Score Distribution Report - provides a comparison of raw scores and percentages against standard Z-Scores, T-Scores, and stanines.
We will convert this to an excel file that is sorted by name or student ID. This excel report will contain the students name if the large form is used, the student ID, the raw score,
number correct and the individual responses from students.
Turnaround time for the above services is normally one working day. Scan forms must be delivered to the University Testing Services, Room 145, Clark Howell Hall, during office hours. Office hours are 8:30am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday.
If you would like your printed reports mailed back to you through campus mail please provide an envelope addressed to you.
If reports are not picked up within two weeks they will be mailed to you campus mail.
Exam results are processed in the order received. Please plan for 24 hour service. Other arrangements may be arranged with Jackie Mitchell.
Research data are processed within 1-2 days.
Processing Schedule during Final Examination Period
Final Exam scoring is done on a first come first served basis.
